THS narrowly defeated in Swan Shield

Tumbarumba High School’s U15 Swan Shield team.

Tumbarumba High School Principal Fiona Jackson said she was thrilled to be able to take some of her footballing students to the Under 15 Swan Shield in Wagga.

THS narrowly lost to Kooringal High by two goals and two points and also enjoyed playing against Wagga High, who came out winners on the day and move on to the next round in Wollongong.

Goal kickers on the day were Luke Bergin (2), Callum Jackson (2) and Jack Jones (1).

Principal Mrs Jackson expressed her enjoyment at being able to take the students to the event.

“As a Principal, I don’t get to go on many excursions with the students, but last Thursday I was able to go to the Swan Shield,” Mrs Jackson said.

“I do not have enough words to express how proud I was of the boys.

“The sportsmanship and enthusiasm they displayed was fantastic.

“The opportunity to get out of the office and spend a day with the kids was fantastic in itself,” she said.

“It really reminded me why I got into teaching.”

The school would like to thank Scott for coaching and driving the bus and thank Michael for running water.

They also extended a massive thanks to Wagga Wagga High and Kooringal High for the day – umpiring, playing and being amazing sportsmen.
